Eating & Drinking - There are a huge range of pubs from the cosy Millbrook Inn to our particular favourite The Pigs Nose, often playing live music. And with many local restaurants to choose from - including the Burgh Island Hotel which you reach by tractor across the low tide - you'll be spoilt for choice.
Sport - The stunning Thurlestone links golf course with grass tennis courts is only 15 minutes away and there are hard courts in Kingsbridge. We have a mooring in the estuary should you wish to rent a motor boat and the lovely Salcombe beaches are only a 15 minute boat ride away.
Should the weather be warm though, there is nothing lovelier than sitting in the garden having lunch in the shade of the apple trees looking out over the water and pottering down to the end of the creek to go crabbing. It is truly idyllic.
Towns & Villages.....
Kingsbridge (5 minutes) - This pretty seaside town has a picturesque high street winding up the hill, lined with wonderful butchers, bakers (the best home baked bread you'll ever taste), fishmongers, green grocers and boutiques. Set back from the high street you'll also find Morrisons and Tesco. Cafes and pubs aplenty there's also a fantastic curry house at the bottom of town and even a local nightclub! Along by the harbour there is a brilliant playground and two hard tennis courts.
Salcombe (15 minutes) - A beautiful town, the streets and painted houses spill down the hill towards the harbour which is full of bobbing boats and seabirds. Here you can wander the streets shopping, pop into one of the oldest sweet shops in England, have a pint of prawns at the Ferry Inn or catch the boat across the estuary to explore some of the beautiful sandy beaches on the other side of the water.
